What if Star Wars had rap songs that played over the credits, the same way the Will Smith movies of the late 1990s and early aughts did? Well, that’s exactly what one TV writer deemed necessary, and filled a Childish Gambino-shaped hole in our hearts in the process. When the Solo trailer dropped yesterday, it was almost immediately clear that Donald Glover‘s young Lando Calrissian was likely to steal the show, and in a matter of hours, he’s already taken over Twitter and inspired a helluva jam. That’s right. A Solo: A Star Wars Story diddy from Gilmore Guys co-host and The Good Place writer Demi Adejuyigbe once again proved yesterday that the internet can be good sometimes, that a Star Wars rap could actually work, and that Childish Gambino may not be dead after all.

Adejuyigbe, who has delivered priceless laughs with his fake Will Smith raps in the past, has done it again with “Donald Glover’s Lando rap”, a Star Wars-inspired tune that perfectly pokes fun at all the quirks of Glover’s rap persona, Childish Gambino, nails some quality Star Wars jokes, and achieves some sick rhymes in the process. Go ahead, listen. You may very well be tricked into thinking it’s actually Glover rapping.

From jabs at Gambino’s well-documented obsession with Asian women (“Asian girls up in my Magic Kingdom like Orlando”) and pop culture references (“Flow’s more crystal than your lightsaber handle, now you’re dealing with the African-American Vandal“) to pretty much every Star Wars punchline you can think of (“I’ll get up in your girl as if she was a tauntaun”, “Get you frozen in some carbonite too, if I’m Han-est”), Adejuyigbe manages to perfectly parody Gambino and pay tribute to Star Wars in one fell swoop (plus, that VIDEO!).

Fingers crossed the Lando Rap makes it into the Solo credits.
