Ewan McGregor Talks About Playing Obi-Wan Again – And We’re All About It

Ewan McGregor had quite the evening at last night’s Golden Globes; the Scottish actor took home the award for Best Actor in a Miniseries for his work as brothers on Fargo‘s third season, marking his first win after two other previous nominations. While his acceptance speech wasn’t all that much to write home about, the actor did get people talking when he was asked about a possible return to the Star Wars universe after his win.

When asked about if the rumors that he might be slipping back into Obi-Wan’s old Jedi robes were true, McGregor stayed optimistically mum. “There’s a lot of talk, and I’d be happy to play him again, but I don’t know anything more than you do,” McGregor told reporters backstage. He did, however, have high praise to share for the latest installment in the franchise, The Last Jedi. “I saw the new one over Christmas and I thought it was really, really beautiful.”

Back in August, it was reported that an Obi-Wan Kenobi spinoff movie was in the works, and McGregor has long expressed interest in returning to the franchise (he played the character in the prequels from 1999-2005, and made a voice appearance during a vision of Rey’s in The Force Awakens).

If it helps McGregor’s case at all, Twitter seems to be 100% in on an Ewan McGregor Obi-Wan movie:

Let’s be honest, the man is aging like a damn fine wine, so there’s no reason to recast him in favor of a younger actor. Give the people what they want.
