The Sexiest Sci-Fi Binge-Watch Is Back! ‘The Magicians’ Season 2 Just Hit Netflix

Last winter, the first season of The Magicians slipped onto Netflix and swiftly became one of the sexiest binge-watches on the service. Today it got steamier. Season Two of The Magicians is now streaming on Netflix.

The Magicians is a wild ride of a show. Week by week, we visit different realms, meet outrageous magical beings, and get new kinds of creative hookups. The show is half soap opera, half loving satire of the high fantasy genre. The first season followed Quentin Coldwater (Jason Ralph), a sensitive young man struggling with depression who finds his dreams coming true when he enrolls in the mysterious Brakebills University. The school is like a grown-up version of Hogwarts, where students learn the laws of magic, all while falling in and out of bed with each other. Take note: Breakbills is kind of a big party school.

But from there, The Magicians bucks convention. While most series would follow a formula where Quentin emerges as the school’s one hope for defeating the all-powerful “Beast,” The Magicians morphs into a wonderfully bonkers ensemble piece. Quentin’s friends, former friends, enemies, and allies all have as much, if not more, to do with the story. The Magicians is a fun, frothy, daring, and addicting journey through myths and magic. And things get more intense in Season Two, where the show tackles rape, abortion, sexual politics, grief, and the class divide…but always in a frothy way that keeps you hooked.

The good news is if you find yourself binging through the first two seasons of The Magicians over the holidays, you won’t have to wait long for more. According to Deadline, Season Three of The Magicians is scheduled to premiere on Syfy on Wednesday, January 10 at 9 PM.
