If there’s one thing that Fuller House loves more than mind-bogglingly elaborate physical comedy routines, it’s bringing back familiar faces from the original Full House series. In addition to all the main characters from the original series (other than the Olsen twins), pretty much all of DJ and Stephanie’s childhood friends and frenemies have returned for an episode or two (like Gia!). That happened once again in the final episode of the first half of Fuller House Season 3 when they brought back Grandpa Nick!

That’s right, Nick Katsopolis (John Aprea) returns in “Wedding or Not Here We Come,” having agreed to pitch in and watch youngest Fuller son Tommy while the rest of the family is in Japan for Steve’s wedding. Just to get your family tree’s all straight, Nick is the father of Jesse (John Stamos) and Danny’s (Bob Saget) wife Pam. So therefore he is the grandfather of Pam’s daughters DJ, Stephanie, and Michelle; he’s also the grandfather of Jesse’s sons Alex and Nicky (who is named after Nick).

Nick’s return was a pleasant surprise for devoted Full House fans, as the character hasn’t been seen in a long time (1991, to be exact). Aprea appeared in 7 episodes of Full House spanning seasons 2 through 4. Jesse takes after his father, a man that is also obsessed with Elvis and his hair. Nick also worked as an exterminator, which he considered the family business. Nick was so mad when Jesse quit being an exterminator that he threatened to cut his son out of his life (that didn’t happen). The last time we saw Nick Katsopolis before his return in Fuller House was in 1991, in Jesse and Becky’s (Lori Loughlin) wedding episode. Jesse’s mom Irene (played by Yvonne Wilder) has yet to make an appearance on Fuller House–but there’s still a whole half of Season 3 yet to hit Netflix!
