If you’re a Netflix subscriber you’ve probably come across the title Trailer Park Boys at some point and wondered who the hell is this four-eyed goof and his two white trash buddies in the promo photo. Well, the answer is Bubbles, Ricky & Julian of course! Created and directed by Mike Clattenburg, the comedy mockumentary stars Mike Smith (Bubbles), Robb Wells (Ricky) and John Paul Tremblay (Julian) and centers around 3 clumsy criminals and their foolish escapades in Nova Scotia’s fictional Sunnyvale Trailer Park. Filming for the twelfth season of the Canadian comedy series, which is billed as a Netflix original, is currently underway.

HOW: The Trailer Park Boys franchise began as a Clattenburg-helmed 1999 film of the same name, which premiered on Canada’s Showcase and instantly piqued the interest of the network as well as viewers across the country. The concept was quickly picked up to series and lasted seven full seasons until the planned final installment in 2007, after which the comedy trio purchased the rights to the show under their new production company Swearnet. Swearnet then partnered with Netflix, who has been co-producing the show ever since, facilitating four more successful seasons to date in addition to three feature-length specials.

WHY: The show’s brilliant blend of situational humor, stoner comedy and mockumentary makes it easy to sit for hours on end, high or not, and binge stream entire seasons. The trio also perfects their portrayal of clumsy uneducated trailer park criminals whose plans are often sincere but never with the proper execution. Their hot-and-cold relationship with the park’s alcoholic supervisor Jim Lahey and Randy makes for some seriously entertaining television as well. Viewers were even treated to special guest appearances from American actors Snoop Dogg, Tom Arnold, Doug Benson and Jimmy Kimmel in Season 10.

The series has grown in popularity over the years by epic proportions, with the gang now touring Europe and the continental United States. Netflix had even sponsored a new 8 part series titled Trailer Park Boys: Out of the Park: Europe which became available for streaming via the platform in October 2016. Trailer Park Boys is clearly here to stay and if you need your fix before Season 12, be sure to catch them at one of their upcoming tour dates. If you have yet to watch Trailer Park Boys but enjoyed a show like Comedy Central’s Reno 911!, we highly recommend this series for you. If not, then “Frig off, Randy!”
