There are a few shows that are more than just entertainment. They’re pop culture phenomenons. ABC’s beloved reality series The Bachelor certainly falls into that category, but based on tweets from the show’s creator, the reality show’s future may not be as secure as we think.

This particular online saga starts with an article from the Wall Street Journal, which outlined that Disney/ABC is preparing to significantly cut its budget. Written by Joe Flint, the article reports that the majority of these cuts will affect “the ABC broadcast, its television production studio, ABC News and local television stations.” These cuts are expected to compose of 10 percent of ABC’s annual costs and translate to as many as 300 employees losing their jobs.

When writer Joe Flint tweeted out his story, only two people retweeted it. Interestingly, one of those people was The Bachelor and The Bachelorette creator and well as executive producer for Bachelor in Paradise Mike Fleiss. That was on August 30. The following day, Fleiss tweeted this:

Either that’s an ominous tweet or a very unfunny joke for fans of The Bachelor. Unsurprisingly, Fleiss’ tweet was filled with panicked reactions from fans:

Even odder, Good Morning America originally tweeted that it would be revealing the Bachelor live today. As the Bachelor fan site Accept This Rose reports, that tweet has since been deleted. Fleiss also retweeted the now-deleted announcement and has made it clear on Twitter that he wasn’t responsible for the Good Morning America cancellation. (Huge shout out to Paige Gawley for pointing out the Fleiss tweets to us).

At the moment, it’s unclear what’s going on with The Bachelor, but it doesn’t look good. It was widely believed that Peter Krause would be the next Bachelor. Reality Steve even reported on that with confidence. However, the Good Morning America window has come and gone without an announcement, leaving some to wonder if Kraus backed out. An even more disturbing theory is that ABC is considering canceling some branch of The Bachelor. This theory ties into that WSJ article a bit more than the Kraus. Whatever’s going on with ABC, something is wrong.
