10 Things You Didn’t Know You Could Stream On Hulu

Hulu may be known for its next-day availability of primetime shows like Modern Family and Chicago Fire, but did you know you could also stream some boob tube classics with your membership?

After yesterday’s announcement that Hulu will be the streaming home of iconic teen soap favorites like Dawson’s Creek and Party of Five, it’s time to figure out what the heck else Hulu is hiding behind their homepage. Make the most of your $7.99 per month (or $11.99 if you’re a no-commercial plan subscriber) fee and see what else is available to watch in Hulu’s underrated and wholly unchartered streaming universe. Below, we’ve picked out ten seasons of series that are difficult to come by in the on-demand realm, but we strongly encourage you to see what other hidden gems are on the platform when you’re surfing around for something new to watch, or in this case, revisit.

'Beverly Hills 90210': Seasons 1-10

Yes, Darren Star’s California love letter is available to stream in its entirety on Hulu. Revisit the drama, the heartbreak, and one of the most unforgettable ensembles in the history of teen soaps. Also available on Hulu are all seven seasons of Melrose Place. So turn the clock back to 1990: you have some California dreaming streaming to do.

Ever have the urge to just watch a dude paint for hours on end? Us too! Thankfully, Hulu has acquired a bunch of episodes of Bob Ross: The Joy of Painting to lull us into a streaming stupor. Other than the oscillating fan over at Netflix, few things will make you feel more relaxed than this bearded fellow painting landscapes.

'Felicity': Seasons 1-4

Though it’s borderline offensive to watch now (for not-so-feminist-friendly reasons), revisiting Felicity is an undeniable treat. The sexual tension, the music, the hair! Well, before Keri Russell cut it and ruined everything. But if you’re in the mood for some “Who will she choose?!” drama set to the hits of Sixpence None the Richer, put Felicity at the top of your list.

'Firefly': Season 1

After FOX disastrously aired episodes out of order back in 2002, it was touch to resuscitate the magic that was Joss Whedon’s Firefly. Set 500 years in the future, the series follows an ill-equipped space crew who, in addition to figuring out their own slew of problems, are forced to deal with intergalactic threats. Starring Nathan Fillion, Gina Torres, and Alan Tudyk; Firefly is of those cult phenomenons you just have to make time to check off your bucket list.

'I Love Lucy': Seasons 1-6

All six seasons of the sitcom that started it all, I Love Lucy, are available with your Hulu subscription. And you thought you’d never find something to put on when your parents come to visit? Take a trip down memory lane with “Job Switching” (a.k.a the chocolate factory episode), “Lucy Does a TV Commercial,” or “Lucy’s Italian Movie.” For a Decider-curated list of best episodes, see our picks, here.

While Netflix is inexplicably ridding their platform of essential A&E Networks content like Hoarders and Intervention, Hulu is acquiring them. Also available for your binge-watching pleasure are Lifetime favorites like Dance Moms and Toddlers in Tiaras.

The fame, the fortune, the drama, and the tears. Oh, the tears. Stream whatever you think you may have missed in the Kardashian-Jenner reality saga and watch the series switch from one of peeking in on stunning rich people to the saddest show in TV history.

'The Mary Tyler Moore Show': Seasons 1-3

Another pick that’s suitable for mom! All kidding aside, Hulu has some incredible ’60s and ’70s classics floating around the service including The Bob Newhart Show, The Dick Van Dyke Show, Happy Days, last but certainly not least: every episode of The Brady Bunch. Neat-o!

'My So-Called Life': Season 1

Two words: hair envy. If we had to pick one show to define ’90s angst (and abhorrent style choices), My So-Called Life would be it. A one-season wonder, the cancelled-too-soon gem of a series stars Claire Danes, Jared Leto, Wilson Cruz, and Bess Armstrong as your typical suburban teens but, oh, it is so good.

'Party Down': Seasons 1-2

Despite breaking ground for Starz as one of its first original series, catering comedy Party Down didn’t make it past two seasons. Thanks to Hulu, however, we’re able to re-watch and remember how gosh darn perfect a show it was. Starring Adam Scott, Ken Marino, Lizzy Caplan, Martin Starr, Ryan Hansen, and Jane Lynch before they were the bankable TV stars they are today; the show’s episodes are broken up by catering jobs, making for a slew of hysterical celebrity cameos and cringe-worthy situations.
