Instagram just dropped some big news! Instead of only posting photos and videos in square format, you can also use landscape or portraiture. It’s a massive step forward in — blah, blah, blah… You just want to hear about how the official Star Wars instagram account piggybacked off of this to debut a short new teaser for Star Wars: The Force Awakens using Instagram’s new landscape settings.
The short clip features no new dialogue. Once more, we hear Andy Serkis‘ Supreme Leader Snoke rumble, “There has been an awakening…” We also see the same footage of the First Order arranged in space Nazi formation that we saw in a recent international television commercial and the scene of Adam Driver‘s Kylo Ren sparking his unique cross-guarded lightsaber to life.
So, what is new? There’s a new shot of Daisy Ridley‘s Rey looking worried with BB-8 in some sort of jungle or forest area. More importantly, John Boyega‘s Finn gets to turn on a famous blue lightsaber to meet Kylo Ren in battle. I got chills. Did you get chills? Well, I got chills.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens won’t be in theaters until December 18, but Force Friday is September 4. That’s the day when the first wave of official merchandise from the new film hits stores. I’m going to get up early to nab me a Poe Dameron figurine. How about you?
