Afternoon Delight

Afternoon Delight: Summer Screen Hits From Rooftop Films And Vimeo Staff Picks

It’s Thursday. Which means it’s almost Friday. Which means you can probably get away with slacking a bit during your lunch hour. If you’re in need of something short and sweet to watch at your desk, we have you covered with some Afternoon Delight. This week’s picks are from Rooftop Films Summer Series featuring a few bizarrely prestigious Vimeo Staff Picks.

Here in New York City, Rooftop Films curates the best short films from up-and-coming filmmakers around the globe and projects them for thousands of rooftop moviegoers all summer long across the five boroughs. While some filmmakers are just getting their feet wet at a series like this, others have been hand-picked by Vimeo as part of their elite Staff Picks, marking the best in short video content on the web. Without further ado, check out some of the best of the short content thus far this summer and if you’re local to the five boroughs, take advantage of this awesome series while you still can.

First up is Vimeo Staff Pick Lesley the Pony Has an A+ Day, featuring Lesley on his way to Merryville to see the Duke. His journey starts blissful, but, unfortunately for our pony friend, things go horribly awry.

Next up is The Land. Screened at Rooftop Films Opening Night, The Land follows a chaotic UK “adventure” playground that encourages children to trust their instincts in a mildly unsafe environment.

The Importance of Playing With Fire (Literally) from Play Free Movie on Vimeo.

And finally, there’s Butter Ya’Self, which frankly, needs no introduction.
