WARNING: Someone Just Totally Spoiled ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ (We Think?)

Star Wars: The Force Awakens won’t arrive in theaters for a whole year, but many of the twists and turns of its plot might have already leaked online. No, we’re not talking about crazy rumors or fan theories. Last night, someone claiming to be a Lucasfilm employee went on 4chan and dumped a ton of information that, well, kind of sounds legit.

***MASSIVE POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD***

***NO, REALLY***

***WE THINK THESE MIGHT BE LEGIT***

If you’ve seen the Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer, then you know that it features close ups of various characters in moments of peril, while a menacing voice (Andy Serkis) explains there has been an “awakening.” Now, logic would suggest that these characters might be starting to realize they are Force sensitive, and that’s exactly what last night’s info dump confirms. There is a “great tremor in the Force”  and “those familiar with the Force feel as if its fundamental nature has somehow changed, while previously oblivious Force-sensitive individuals suddenly realize that they have a gift.” So, yeah, the Force is awakening.

However, that’s just the start of the info dump. According to this source, John Boyega is the new “Luke,” Daisy Ridley‘s character has been raised in secret to keep her hidden from Imperials and Rebel traitors alike (which kind of confirms the assumption that she is Han and Leia’s daughter), and Oscar Isaac and Adam Driver are both playing leaders of Rebel X-Wing Squadrons. Isaac is being called “Darklighter,” which is a nod to Luke’s Tatooine pal, Biggs Darklighter, and supposedly leads the “Blue Squadron,” and hates it when Han Solo calls him, “kid.” Driver is the leader of the Red Squadron, a top pilot, and is obsessed with the Dark Side. Han and Leia are married, Luke has trained seven padawans, and Domhall Gleeson plays an Imperial defector.

There are tons more tantalizing details (and you can read them here), but the biggest takeaway is that the film is supposedly “dark” and on par with the original 1977 Star Wars. This Lucasfilm source also hinted that there has been a lot of friction behind-the-scenes between director J.J. Abrams and Disney executives.

There will be no way to no for sure if this leak is legitimate until Star Wars: The Force Awakens debuts in cinemas on December 18, 2015, but at the very least, it makes for a fun read.
