The Ultimate Bearer Of Bad News: The Microfilm Machine

If all the horror and thriller movies we’ve watched are to be trusted, when the going gets tough, men hit the streets, while women hit the… library. From The Amityville Horror to The Silence of the Lambs, countless movies have relied on this trope, plopping their beautiful leading ladies in front of hulking microfilm machines so that their terrifying discoveries can help move the plot along.

Ryan Creed has taken it upon himself to capture this recurrent phenomenon, creating a hilarious supercut — titled, appropriately, “Hot Chicks Looking at Microfilm in Horror Movies” — of the best of these scenes. Marvel (and hum along to Ringo Starr) as Jodie Foster, Julianne Moore, and Naomi Watts recoil in horror as they finally start to piece together the puzzle and realize just how close danger is.
